Koperasi Perdana Nasional Malaysia Berhad (KOPRIMAS)
About Us
Koperasi Perdana Nasional Malaysia Berhad (KOPRIMAS) formerly known as Koperasi Belia Malaysia Berhad was registered on 16 October 2006 under the Cooperatives Act 1993 as a limited liability cooperative.
In line with the objective of increasing the economic interests of KOPRIMAS members, they strive to diversify their sources of income by venturing into new fields. The ruminant meat industry (cow, buffalo, goat, sheep) has great potential to be ventured into and explored as meat becomes an increasingly popular and preferred food as the economic level and purchasing power of consumers increase.
Statistics from the Malaysian Department of Veterinary Services show that in 2017, Malaysia produced 46,333 tonnes of beef/buffalo and 4,400 tonnes of meat and sheep. This is 23% and 10% self -contained (SSL). Some of the local meat products are also from live livestock imported for slaughter. To meet the demand for ruminant meat, a total of 167,439 tonnes of beef/buffalo and 38,626 tonnes of mutton/sheep meat were imported in 2017 with a total import value of RM 3.16 billion.
KOPRIMAS has entered into strategic partnerships with Ternakan Kamran Sdn Bhd, TPL Fresh Meats and AL-SHAH Frozen Meats Sdn.Bhd to explore opportunities in the ruminant meat supply chain.
